What his colour means

Karl is a chocolate and tan — a solid brown base with tan points on the eyebrows, muzzle, chest and legs. His brown nose and light green eyes both come from the chocolate gene, which turns black pigment brown wherever it appears.

Of the ten puppies here, Karl has the simplest colour genetics. He is not a dapple, so no merle considerations apply to him at all, and chocolate is not a dilute colour, so the coat-thinning problem that affects blue and Isabella Dachshunds does not apply either. On colour grounds alone he is the lowest-risk dog in the group. More on chocolate and black Dachshunds.

What is included at $1,000

Age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, a vet health check, a one-year health guarantee, and a written record of both parents’ coat patterns. He is started on potty training and raised in the house rather than a kennel.

Seeing him before you pay

We do a live video call before any payment, so you can watch him move, see how he reacts to a noise, and ask whatever you want. We do not ask for payment before that call.
