How to check us before you send money
Most people buying a puppy online are, reasonably, nervous. Here is exactly how to satisfy yourself about us, and we would encourage you to apply the same tests to any breeder you speak to.
- Ask for a live video call. Not a recorded clip — a live call with the puppy you are interested in. Ask us to pick her up, show you the room, hold up three fingers. We do this before you pay anything. It is the single most useful check available and it costs nothing.
- Ask about both parents. We will tell you their adult weights, coats and patterns for any puppy here.
- Read our terms before you commit, not after. Our health guarantee and adoption contract are published on the site.
- Reverse image search our photographs. They are ours. They should not appear on anyone else’s website.
We wrote a full guide on how to spot a puppy scam, and it applies to us as much as to anyone. A breeder who objects to being verified is telling you something.
What we breed
Miniature Dachshunds, predominantly long-coated, across the colours and patterns the breed is known for:
We price every puppy the same regardless of coat or colour. Rarer colouring does not make a better dog, and charging more for it tells you what a breeder optimises for.
Where we stand on the difficult questions
We do not breed dapple to dapple. Pairing two dapples can produce double dapple puppies with substantially raised rates of deafness and blindness. It is avoidable, and avoiding it is the breeder’s job. Ask us about any dapple puppy’s parents and you will get a straight answer.
We do not sell “teacup” Dachshunds. There is no such size. Breeding deliberately undersized dogs selects for fragility, and charging a premium for smallness rewards it. We do not use the word.
We talk to every buyer about the back. Intervertebral disc disease is the defining health risk in this breed and prevention starts on day one — ramps rather than jumping, keeping the dog lean, a harness rather than a collar. Our guide to Dachshund back problems covers the warning signs that need a vet the same day.
What every puppy leaves with
Veterinary examination by a licensed vet, age-appropriate vaccinations, worming, our one-year health guarantee covering genetic defects, and the paperwork for your own vet. Our puppies can be registered. Delivery is quoted separately on distance and method — see how delivery works — and we give you that figure before you commit rather than adding it after a deposit.
We ask questions too
We want to know where our puppies are going, which is why we ask you to tell us about yourself before we agree a sale. A breeder with no interest in where a puppy ends up is a warning sign in itself.
